Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Source Pro Search is conducting a search for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer on behalf of a major established and renowned international company. This excellent opportunity is located in the south suburban Atlanta, GA area within one of their Product Design Departments. Position Summary:

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in managing projects to achieve specific targets for vehicles, focusing on function, performance, durability, cost reduction, and ease of manufacturing. This role involves determining the root cause of failures, improving the product development process through engineering studies, and creating electrical systems, specification sheets, 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOM.

Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead the design and development of the electrical scope for projects.
  • Oversee the entire electrical system design.
  • Complete electrical components and system design.
  • Create detailed 2D drawings in support of assigned project subassemblies and installations.
  • Prepare engineering release documentation defining part numbers, effectivity, and usage.
  • Participate as an individual contributing member of cross-functional teams to ensure quality product development within schedule and cost constraints.
  • Perform or manage the analysis of market claims and determine countermeasure specifications.
  • Collaborate with domestic and overseas suppliers.
  • Lead communication with company headquarters in Japan for electrical project scope.
Qualifications:

Education / Experience:
  • BS degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a relevant field.
  • 5-10 years of experience with electrical components and system design, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Electronic circuit design and verification of embedded equipment and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPU.
  • Embedded software design and verification.
  • Microcontroller integration (for automotive applications, preferred).
Other Required Skills:
  • Overall vehicle control system development.
  • Wire harness and small electrical components (headlight, switch, meter, etc.) design experience.
  • Experience with PCB design, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding the basic principles, structures, functions, and features of electromagnetic waves, sensors, image processing, and radio waves.
  • Design control system and logic based on electrical engineering principles.
  • Verify test items of control systems and logic based on principles.
  • Ability to create and execute countermeasure plans for technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to visualize and plan multiple technical assignments 1-6 months into the future.
  • Vehicle navigation system design.
  • Deep Cycle battery design.
  • Battery charging profile design based on battery reaction principles.
  • Lithium-ion battery design.
  • Battery management system (BMS) design based on battery reaction principles.
  • Software development and/or software integration with hardware.
  • Control logic design based on QFD and the principles/characteristics of controlled objects.
  • CPU internal structure design.
  • Automotive vehicle communication protocols (CAN/LIN) experience.
