Production Supervisor - Manufacturing - 2nd shift

Job Summary:

As a Production Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in supervising, coordinating, and assisting direct reports to meet production requirements set forth by the organization. The manufacturing environment includes automation, machining, and the assembly process, and you will oversee 30-40 direct reports during the 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm shift.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote a safe workplace by ensuring compliance with all safety rules, procedures, and equipment usage.
  • Provide supervision, technical leadership, training, coaching, and feedback to direct reports.
  • Handle daily scheduling, planning, time, and attendance.
  • Review work orders and ensure work is performed per specifications.
  • Track progress of required work orders and maintain accurate logs of inventory, machinery, and employees.
  • Ensure production requirements are met every shift by keeping accurate logs of inventory, machinery, and employees.
  • Address employee issues and report immediate actions or advice to the chain of command.
  • Operate machinery and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with various departments to reduce machine downtime and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety through the Company's 5S program.
  • Document actions by completing production logs and quality check sheets.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Planning, and Human Resources Departments.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • Versed in human resource management in regards to interviewing, training, developing, and career management.
  • Solid understanding of mathematics and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply understanding of machine systems to maintain and identify continuous improvement possibilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine problems and determine resolutions.
  • Working knowledge of Computer Numerical Controls and drives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in eventually being promoted.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage 20-40 subordinates.
  • Train and develop employees.
  • Conduct interviews and performance reviews.
  • Administer disciplinary action as necessary.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment while on the job.
  • Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • The person in this position needs to wear appropriate safety clothing and shoes when needed. This includes a need for safety glasses, gloves, etc.
  • Ability to perform repetitive rotation and movement of hands and wrists quickly and efficiently.
  • Must have good dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
  • Must be able to stand for most of the day (50% of the time).
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally will be expected to lift large materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with automation, assembly, and machining experience as a plus.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership skills with experience overseeing at least 30 direct reports.
  • Successful experience in Production Supervision.
