YOUR ROLE WITH THE COMPANY:
This position will perform a variety of tasks at the direction of a project Manager, project engineer or other senior staff member in transportation.
  • Planning and design of transportation projects
  • Designing horizontal and vertical roadway geometry
  • Preparing various stages of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Drafting technical reports
  • Assistance in developing drainage and utility designs
  • Perform roadway design on interchange, intersection design, and highway improvement projects for DOT and municipal clients
  • Conducting field visits during design or construction
  • Develop and maintaining good working relationships with clients and engineering partners; proactively engaging with clients to prepare high quality and cost-effective solutions
  • Experienced level engineers (PEs) will work as a key team member and mentor junior design staff

BACKGROUND:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering With 0 to 10 years’ experience in land (site) development projects, (site layout, grading, erosion control, water and sewer utilities and stormwater management...)
  • EIT or PE for the state of SC (or ability to obtain) desired, but will mentor new candidates and assist them with securing EIT or PE for the state of South Carolina.  
  • Roadway design and plants preparation experience on SCDOT related projects
  •  
  • Familiarity of the SCDOT Roadway Design Manual and AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team
