SourcePro Search has a fantastic opportunity for a Business Development Manager in the Bay area (office location is flexible). Our client is a top ranked global law firm and this role offers a high base, bonus and lots of growth potential.
The Business Development Manager will support the Litigation practice group partners to generate more revenue through strategic and cost-effective business development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of the practice group’s business plans and targeted business development initiatives; conduct research on new and prospective clients. Work with the practice to identify potential thought leadership opportunities and lead efforts to actualize those selected for implementation. Attend practice group meetings whenever appropriate.
Identify, plan and provide logistical support for all internal and external marketing events, speaking engagements and conferences.
Prepare and coordinate pitches, proposals and RFP responses. In connection with RFP responses, analyze RFP requirements, participate in the development of a clear and focused RFP strategy and response, clarify issues and collaborate with business development team members in other practice groups and offices as appropriate.
Develop and coordinate the drafting of submissions for directory and research guide submissions (Chambers, IFLR, Legal 500, other practice specific directories, etc.); coordinate researcher interviews; maintain rankings and accolades databases.
Organize and maintain practice group marketing information and experience database. Update practice group descriptions, brochures, case lists and website and intranet content. Maintain and/or build litigation specific contact lists in firm wide CRM system (InterAction.).
Conduct research assignments using litigation-related research tools including Westlaw or Lexis. Conduct competitive intelligence research and market research in preparation for client and prospective client meetings, pitches/RFPs and other business development initiatives. Develop targeted reports on markets, clients and competitors using primary and secondary sources.
Assist with any related special projects designed to raise the practice group’s profile. Manage the practice’s business development budget in conjunction with the practice group leader. Work with the finance department to ensure the effective use of data for business development purposes.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of front-line work experience in an international law firm or professional services environment is preferred.
4 year college degree required, graduate degree is a plus.
Experience with planning and preparing pitches, presentations and other marketing materials required.
Experience working across variety of office locations, cultures and time zones.
Advanced knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InterAction; familiarity in working with any desktop publishing software or other CRM systems would be a plus.
