Trusts & Estates Paralegal


Location: New York, NY (3 days in-office)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

We are seeking a highly experienced and agile Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join our team in New York. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has deep experience in all phases of estate and trust administration, and can seamlessly support multiple attorneys with varying needs and personalities.


What You’ll Do:

  • Handle probate and estate administration from start to finish, including preparing and filing petitions

  • Prepare IRS Form 706 and NY Form ET-706, and coordinate supporting documentation

  • Draft legal documents such as Receipts and ReleasesLLC formation documents, and deeds

  • Obtain EINs, open estate and trust bank accounts, and prepare required documentation for brokerage transfers and vehicle title changes

  • Communicate with clients regarding estate matters, including difficult conversations around tax obligations

  • Order and compile date-of-death valuations for various estate assets

  • Manage and prioritize constant requests from multiple attorneys

  • Support ongoing tasks with professionalism, discretion, and a client-service mindset


What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Trusts & Estates Paralegal in a law firm setting

  • Strong working knowledge of probate procedures and Surrogate’s Court filings

  • Proficiency in preparing federal and state estate tax returns (Form 706, ET-706)

  • Experience drafting basic estate and trust documents, forming entities (LLCs), and preparing deeds

  • Confidence to handle sensitive family and tax conversations with empathy and clarity

  • Ability to juggle competing priorities from multiple attorneys while maintaining high-quality work

  • Exceptional communication, organization, and multitasking skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred
