Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the firm’s various mentoring initiatives including programs for entry level associates, laterals, transfers, and International Associate Program (IAP) participants, as well as the Associate Mentoring Initiative.
Assign advisors, communicate assignments, and follow up with mentoring pairs to ensure that participants are getting the most out of the programs.
Arrange and coordinate all mentoring programming, including substantive programs and social events.
Assist practice groups with mentoring initiatives specific to their groups. Assist with the development and implementation of new mentoring initiatives.
Plan all aspects of, and facilitate, orientations for entry-level associates, lateral associates and counsel, IAP participants, and lawyers who transfer to the NY office. Be a primary point of contact for, and liaise with, entry-level associates prior to their start at the firm to provide information and answer questions.
Assist with office and practice group placements for entry-level associates.
Develop and facilitate a formal lateral integration program which would include, among other things, conducting one-on-one meetings periodically with laterals, providing mentoring and networking opportunities and otherwise implementing programs designed to help laterals better integrate into the firm.
Plan and coordinate all aspects of the 3-day First Year Conference for all US Track lawyers worldwide. Create the agenda, develop program content, work with speakers, and coordinate social events, travel arrangements, and other logistics.
Coordinate presentations made by practice groups and teams meant to provide associates and other employees with more information about the firm's diverse practices and capabilities. Create the schedule of presentations, help with the presentation preparation, and coordinate program logistics.
Plan and coordinate various training programs for the firm including Lean-In Education Circle meetings, ethics and diversity CLE programs, communications and time management programs and other core skills and substantive programs, as needed.
Act as the main point person for the firm’s sponsorship of the NYC Bar Professional Development Series.
Assist with the design, planning and coordination of training programs for Business Services staff.
Prepare the monthly Professional Development newsletter for lawyers in the Americas, including writing and preparing content, soliciting and researching events and opportunities, and ensuring that the newsletter is useful and informative for all lawyers in the Americas. Create a Professional Development newsletter for our Business Services employees in the Americas.
Plan and coordinate various social events for lawyers, including, without limitation, cocktail parties, happy hours, class year gatherings, and various other events.
Collect market research and track best practices in order to find out what is going on in the marketplace to stay abreast of top competitors.
Assist the Professional Development team and the wider Human Resources Department with additional projects as needed, including, without limitation, exit interviews and departure analysis, the feedback and performance management processes, Summer Associate University, and global conferences.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Min of 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment
Advanced knowledge of Windows-based systems
JD, Masters in Organizational Development or Human Resources Management, or other advanced degree preferred
Familiarity with viDesktop, CE Manager and Workday
